History

Founded in October 1971 our company, then known as Eccleshare Construction Ltd, a subsidiary of the Eccleshare Group of Companies based in Lincoln, began trading in the City of Peterborough. The city had been designated as one of the ideally suited areas to accommodate the London overspill and as a result it was just the right time to form a new building organisation to take advantage of the considerable volume of work that would be available.

Building Refurbishment, Maintenance & ConstructionPremises were acquired in the city’s Princes Street and from here the company set about becoming an integral part of the construction team which changed the face of Peterborough. Through the remainder of the seventies & the early eighties major contracts were awarded to the company for housing, community & industrial projects including the redevelopment of the city centre’s Boongate area and much of the new Westwood Industrial Estate.

Seeking to establish a permanent move to Peterborough and to enhance the awareness of potential clients a Small Works division was created in 1974 to concentrate on refurbishment, improvement, alteration, response and reactive maintenance primarily for Local Authorities and Housing Groups. Year on year growth throughout this period culminated with the company’s ability to separate itself from the parent group by virtue of a management buyout.

The immediate task of the new leadership was to overhaul the corporate image of the company and to display to existing and new clients that Peterborough had a successful and dynamic construction and building maintenance service which could compete with the already established local firms and the more well known national enterprises. Consequently our company was renamed in 1985 and became Princebuild Limited and the now familiar green and yellow livery was introduced. In 1988 land was acquired in the Fengate area of Peterborough whereupon new offices, joinery shop, stores and garage facilities were constructed forming the head office and registered address where we reside to this day. With measured plans for affordable and steady expansion offices were opened in Holbeach during 1995 primarily to commence a large term maintenance and gas servicing contract. However this move into the south of Lincolnshire enabled the company to extend its area of normal daily operations into Boston, Sleaford and Kings Lynn. With growing demand for our services and requests from a number of our larger clients to extend our operational area towards the Midlands we began operating from leased premises in Northampton during 1997.

By virtue of a sound business plan, intelligent marketing and appreciative clients Princebuild Ltd commenced trading nationally in 1999 and today one will find the company in every corner of the country.

Building Refurbishment, Maintenance & ConstructionBringing matters right up to date sees the acquisition of our own premises in Northampton in 2002 which have been extensively refurbished into excellent facilities allowing us to accommodate an ever increasing workload in that area. A new facility in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire was opened in October 2003 to give us a permanent base in the north of the county giving us access to markets in Newark, Lincoln and Grimsby; and finally the ongoing development of newly acquired premises in Gosberton, near Spalding was completed during 2004 having replaced what was the overcrowded Holbeach office.

For the past 36 years our company has consistently maintained an excellent reputation for reliability, efficiency, high quality and enviable customer relations. From the humble beginning of our small Peterborough office back in 1971 Princebuild Ltd has extended it’s core operational area from Grimsby to North London and from Coventry deep into East Anglia. Plans are afoot to take our services further afield, particularly into the Midlands, and we look forward to advising our patronage of this new development in the near future.
