Jewson Ruislip is located to the North West of London and is a busy builders merchants which is also a timber specialist and accommodates cutting and milling facilities.
Having worked with the Saint Gobain Group on many projects over the years, Princebuild were awarded the project refurbish the existing building and also construct a new warehouse to service the store.
The works began with the demolition of the existing saw mill and timber warehouse areas, breaking out the existing slab and casting pad foundations in order to erect the new steel frame. This was then cladded and new concrete slab cast along with yard areas. The new warehouse features steel doors, roller shutters and concrete retaining walls. To complete the warehouse all new racking was installed as well as a tool hire storage room and a tool hire workshop.
An additional element of work included changes to the incoming electrical supplies. Princebuild worked with UKPN to install a new main which is largest enough to supply the entire site which allowed the existing three incoming supplies to be isolated and made redundant. The new main is installed within a new green kiosk which contains the switchgear and meter, there are then underground sub-mains going to the main distribution boards.
The existing building also received an external refurbishment to bring it into line with the newly constructed warehouse, further works are planned to the internal areas of that building at a later date.
The site does suffer from an abundance of pigeons so the entirety of the new warehouse has also been fitted with bird netting & spikes.
The project was carried out during the initial national lock-down and did suffer some delays due to Covid-19, however the team worked extremely hard and moved forward with Covid safe procedures in place.
