Project Overview:
We were a key player in a prestigious project, part of a £60 million investment programme at the renowned shopping centre, centre:mk. The goal was to create an outstanding guest services lounge, enhancing the shopping experience to a world-class level. The transformation took place within vacant retail units on Deer Walk, with a focus on introducing new VIP services for shoppers’ benefit. Building on their prior work to upgrade the Sunset Walk malls, we incorporated high-end finishes and innovative design features, collectively crafting a unique and luxurious environment for visitors. The guest services lounge introduced a range of shopper-centric amenities, including coat check, click and collect, shop and drop, and gift wrapping, all within a comfortable and spacious lounge area. Family-friendly features, including baby changing facilities, feeding areas, toddler training toilets, and interactive play features, cater to visitors of all ages. Towards the rear of the lounge, essential facilities emerged, including new customer toilets, a contemplation room, Wudu amenities, and specialised features for disabled individuals, all adhering to an exceptionally high standard rarely
seen in public spaces.

Scope of Works:
One of the primary challenges faced during this project was the need to work in close proximity to the general public. Due to the shopping centre’s restaurants and other facilities, the malls remained open to the public for a significant portion of the day and night. This necessitated a rigorous site management and careful planning of the work to minimise disruption to shoppers, retailers, and staff, ensuring the smooth progress of the project. Effective communication between all on-site teams and between the centre’s management and our project managers was crucial. A substantial portion of the work had to be carried out during night shifts. Given the project’s high visibility within the shopping centre, meeting the deadline was imperative, and the project’s timely delivery was a top priority.

Summary:
We successfully executed a prestigious project within the centre:mk shopping centre, involving the creation of a world-class guest services lounge. The transformation of vacant retail units on Deer Walk resulted in a luxurious space offering an array of VIP services. The project included family-friendly features and facilities built to an exceptionally high standard. Princeenergy, the building services division, played a vital role in delivering the mechanical and electrical components of the project. Despite the challenges of working in proximity to the public, the project was completed on time, achieving its goal of providing a luxurious shopping environment. The project’s excellence was recognised when it was shortlisted for a REVO Gold Award in the refresh+ category in December 2017.
