Project Overview
Princeenergy, part of Princebuild Ltd, was appointed by Flitwick Town Council to deliver essential plant and heating infrastructure works at The Rufus Centre in Flitwick.
The Rufus Centre is an important community facility that hosts a wide range of activities, events and services for local residents. Ensuring the building’s mechanical systems remained reliable and efficient was essential to maintaining a comfortable and functional environment for visitors and staff.
The two-month project commenced in December and involved upgrading the centre’s plant systems while ensuring minimal disruption to the day-to-day operation of the busy community venue. The works were successfully delivered on time and within the agreed budget of £117,181.25.
Scope of Work
Princeenergy carried out a full upgrade of the centre’s plant hardware and associated mechanical systems.
Key elements of the project included:
• Replacement of the existing plant hardware
• Installation and integration of new mechanical equipment
• Coordination of plant logistics and installation
• Careful programme management to maintain building operations
• Deployment of additional resources where required to maintain progress
• Ongoing communication and coordination with the client team
During the works, unforeseen requirements meant the entire plant hardware needed to be replaced during the winter period. The Princeenergy team responded quickly, deploying additional manpower and carefully managing the logistics required to keep the project on schedule.
Throughout the project, strong attention was given to health and safety, programme management and quality of installation to ensure the works were completed efficiently and safely.
Summary
The project was completed in just two months, on time and within budget, with Flitwick Town Council rating Princebuild as Excellent across all key performance areas, including customer service, quality of work, health and safety, commercial management, environmental performance and collaboration.
Despite challenges arising during the installation phase, the Princeenergy team worked closely with the client to resolve issues quickly and effectively, ensuring the centre remained operational and comfortable during the winter period.
Matthew Earles, Business & Facilities Manager at The Rufus Centre, commented:
“The true measure of a contractor isn’t how they perform when everything goes to plan, but how they react when it doesn’t. Luke and his team excelled. They stood by their word and delivered our project on time, within budget and to the quality promised. I would highly recommend them.”
The success of the project reflects Princebuild’s commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality solutions while building strong, collaborative relationships with clients.
