Project overview
Princebuild was appointed by Landmarc to deliver essential structural roof strengthening works at Wretham Camp. The project focused on improving the long-term integrity and safety of existing kitchen roof structures within a live operational environment on a Ministry of Defence site.

The works involved careful coordination around a functioning kitchen, requiring phased delivery, temporary protection measures and close communication with site stakeholders to minimise disruption while maintaining full operational use of the building where possible.

Scope of works

• Full site setup including welfare, access and CDM compliance
• Removal and reinstatement of catering equipment to enable safe working
• Installation of temporary supports
• Removal of existing roof coverings
• Installation of additional rolled steel angles (RSAs) to improve structural capacity
• Associated steel packers and fixings
• Reinstatement of roof coverings to match existing
• Testing, inspection and certification of completed works

Summary

The project successfully delivered structural improvements to the kitchen roof areas, enhancing load capacity and long-term durability. The works have ensured the building is now safer, more robust, and fit for continued operational use.

This was a really challenging project that other contractors were not able to price due to the complexity and uncertainty. The site was very busy and the contractor were extremely flexible.
