The Chris Turner Statue committee (CTSF) have confirmed that the total amount raised now stands at £103,718, which is more than £20,000 over the original target set when the fund was launched in November 2015.

Back in February 2017 Princebuild pledged to match all donations made to the fund until the target figure was reached. This, along with the hard work of the committee and the efforts from across the city of Peterborough, including many donations from local businesses and the generosity of fans has seen the target reached and exceeded.

Director and life-long Posh fan Jonathan Pudney said “Princebuild are delighted to be able to support this wonderful project to honour the memory of Chris who truly was a friend of every supporter of the club. We have been impressed by the generosity of the fans who have managed to raise this huge sum in such a short period of time and we are pleased to have been able to help the committee get ‘over the original goal line’.”

The initial target amount would have covered the sculpting of the statue, however with the additional money raised the committee will now be able prepare the final location of the statue, and cover the costs to maintain the statues appearance for many years to come.

The unveiling of the statue is planned for 1st September 2017 and further information regarding the event will be available on the Chris Turner Statue website in due course.
