Princebuild has strengthened its commitment to supporting young people in Peterborough by donating tool kits and essential cleaning packs to the first cohort of young adults from The House Project. Group Brand & Marketing Manager Carly Dadge and Human Resources Support Manager Cheryl Brown visited Chauffers Cottage, the base of the Peterborough House Project, to personally deliver the items to some of the young people settling into their new homes.
The House Project helps young adults leaving care take their first steps towards living independently. Working from Chauffers Cottage in the city centre, the team supports participants as they gain the confidence, practical skills and emotional resilience needed to manage a home of their own. Each young person is allocated a property and receives guidance on everything from budgeting and cooking to home maintenance and wellbeing.
For many, moving into a first home can be an exciting but overwhelming milestone. Alongside the usual pressures, the cost of buying basic household items can be a real barrier. Tool kits, cleaning products and practical essentials are not the first things many young adults think about, yet they are crucial for setting up a safe, functioning living space.
That is why Princebuild chose to donate these everyday items. The company felt strongly that starting out shouldn’t be made harder because of the cost of basic necessities. By providing tool kits and cleaning essentials, the aim was to remove some financial pressure and help each young person feel prepared and proud of their new home.
Staff at The House Project said the donation will make a genuine difference to the young people as they learn to manage their homes independently. Princebuild is proud to support such an impactful programme and looks forward to continuing its relationship with the team at Chauffers Cottage.
