Last week, Princebuild said a fond farewell to Carol as she retired after an outstanding career with the business.
Carol’s journey with Princebuild spans an incredible 25 years, during which time she has played a pivotal role in shaping and supporting the company’s financial operations. Her career in finance began after earning her HND in Business Studies at Sheffield Polytechnic, followed by 16 years with a well-known Building Society and the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID). This experience provided Carol with the strong foundations and expertise she later brought to Princebuild.
When Carol joined the company, Princebuild’s turnover was just a fraction of what it is today and the Finance Department was entering a period of significant change. The early days of floppy disc backups and emerging computerisation meant there was much work to be done to keep pace with the company’s rapid growth. Carol was instrumental in helping modernise financial processes, including supporting the installation of new financial software in 2008 and contributing to the development of our bespoke ‘Contact Manager’ system.
Over the years, Carol’s role continued to evolve as she took on greater responsibility and became an invaluable member of the Finance Team. Known for her unwavering reliability, supportive nature and willingness to help others, Carol truly embodies the spirit of the Princebuild family.
Before joining Princebuild, Carol also spent time creating traditional jointed teddy bears, a detail fondly remembered by the team. To mark her retirement, colleagues thought it would be a fitting tribute to gift Carol her very own Princebuild bear, which she has named “Fin” short for Finance.
Carol enjoyed a wonderful send-off surrounded by colleagues who wished her well for the next chapter. She will be dearly missed by everyone at Princebuild, and we thank her for her dedication, loyalty and the lasting impact she has made on the business.
We wish Carol a long, happy and well-earned retirement.
