HR Manager Barbara Mehew is new chair of Lincolnshire construction training group

Princebuild Ltd’s company human resource manager, Barbara Mehew, has been elected as the new chairperson for South Lincolnshire Group Training Association (SLGTA).

SLGTA is a not-for-profit group funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). The Board aims to enhance training and skills for the local construction industry.

Barbara, who was previously vice-chairperson, will lead SLGTA in its work to promote strong links between the construction industry and schools and colleges.

She said: “I have been an active member of the Association for over 10 years and I am extremely passionate about training and development and encouragement of young people into the industry as well as sharing best practice. I welcome the opportunity to take on this leading role.”

Barbara will hold the post for two years and be supported by previous chair and now vice-chairperson, Chris Jones, alongside some 30 members.

The role includes chairing quarterly steering group meetings and attending Construction Employer Forums and skills events

Association members benefit from accessible and professional information, advice and support along with access to directly sourced effective training at competitive rates.

SLGTA also runs the Construction Skills Events for Lincolnshire schools currently held in Boston and Stamford. These events are aimed at raising awareness for construction and signposting young people on their chosen career paths. The next event will be held on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 of May at The Princess Royal Sports Arena in Boston.

Barbara is only the eighth female chairperson to the Construction Industries National network of 61 Group Training Associations.
