Princebuild is proud to have been part of a charity build project for a new centre for disabled children and their families in Peterborough.

We supplied five tradesmen who provided nine days’ labour to ‘The Little Miracles’ Project as part of BBC’s charity ‘Children in Need’ featured in the BBC One special programme ‘DIY SOS: The Big Build with Children in Need’. The programme will be screened in November as part of the Children in Need coverage.

‘Little Miracles’ is a parent-led centre, support group and charity for children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions. It helps 700 families and has over 2500 children registered to use the centre. The centre was set up from a small industrial space in 2010, which they must vacate this month (October).

Fortunately, ‘Little Miracles’ was gifted a two-and-a-half acre site which is where the ambitious new build project of a timber frame structure set in green space was undertaken.

Director, Jonathan Pudney, said: “This was a really special project to be involved in and the tradesmen involved have all said what a wonderfully valuable experience it has been. Giving something back to the community is what Princebuild is committed to doing and I am delighted these deserving children now have a fully rebuilt centre, which provides a safe place for them to play for many years to come.”

Princebuild supplied two multi-skilled labourers, two decorators and one bricklayer across the nine days.

The new premises has full wheelchair access, a dedicated sensory room, space for counselling, an office, workable disabled toilets, a working kitchen and an area for the children to eat, along with distinct spaces for both the young and the older children that attend the centre. The outside space includes a sensory garden and lots of space for the children to run around safely as well as a car park for parents.
