We had the pleasure of hosting three enthusiastic work experience students who immersed themselves in various departments of our company. Izzy from Hampton College, and Caiden and Poppy from Sawtry Village Academy, spent a week learning and contributing to our operations, leaving a lasting impression on our team.
Izzy’s Week in the Works Department
Izzy, a bright student from Hampton College, dedicated her time to the Works Department. She delved into the intricacies of planning and coordination essential for our construction projects. Her week was filled with learning opportunities, including visiting a live construction site. This hands-on experience provided Izzy with a comprehensive understanding of the behind-the-scenes efforts that ensure the smooth execution of our projects.
Caiden and Poppy’s Experience in Marketing and HR
Caiden and Poppy from Sawtry Village Academy joined our Marketing and HR Department, where they were tasked with organising a charity coffee morning. Their initiative and hard work paid off, raising an impressive £100 for Parkinson’s UK and Alzheimer’s Society, which the directors kindly increased to £200 so that each charity receives £100. This project allowed them to develop valuable skills in event planning and teamwork. They also had the opportunity to interview several people within the business to learn more about the various positions we have.
During their week with us, all three students had the opportunity to visit PCRFM, a local radio station we support. They were given a tour by Kev Lawrence, who not only showed them around the studios but also interviewed them, adding a unique twist to their work experience. Additionally, the students toured Peterborough United’s facilities, gaining insights into the operations of a professional football club, where we are proud to be the back-of-shirt sponsors.
Having work experience students like Izzy, Caiden, and Poppy is invaluable to our company. It allows us to showcase the diverse opportunities within the construction industry, beyond the traditional trades. By engaging with young talents, we aim to inspire the next generation to consider careers in construction, marketing, HR, and beyond.
