We are pleased to announce that we have again been recognised for our environmental awareness and have been awarded the highest ‘Green Level’ accreditation by Investors in the Environment. In addition to this our own Green Champion, Jessica Haighton has also received the award for The Best Green Champion 2018!
Investors in the Environment (iiE) is a nationwide environmental accreditation scheme and is designed to help businesses improve their energy efficiency and reduce their environmental impact. The Accreditation is supported and endorsed locally by organisations including Peterborough City Council, the Environment Capital Partnership and Peterborough Environment City Trust.
To achieve the accreditation Princebuild has been looking for more ways in which it can reduce its impact on the environment. As well as looking at the usual areas such as reducing the use of water, gas and electricity and reducing the waste produced by business activities, Jessica has been driving additional green incentives within the business.
A litter pick was organised and £10 per bag of waste was donated to Macmillan Cancer Support and a sustainable travel week was also held, encouraging employees to car share, use public transport or to walk and cycle where possible. As well as these initiatives a new electric car has been trialled and will replace one of the pool cars in the near future.
It is not always easy to implement green incentives within the construction industry, but with Jessica leading the way, Princebuild continue to improve and do everything possible to care for the environment.
Both of the awards were presented at the annual iiE Awards night in Peterborough which saw many local and regional businesses recognised for their commitment to a greener way of doing business.
