The annual awards ceremony hosted by the Peterborough Council for Voluntary Service (PCVS) was held on the 1st November and recognised the fantastic work done in the voluntary sector throughout our local communities.

The event was held in association with Peterborough Together and the evening was themed to embrace the city’s diversity and sharing across communities.

Attendees were entertained by a dance performance by PSMDA Bharatanatyam and also a performance by Classical Reflection. A buffet was served by the Air Cadets and the evening was compered by Jane Smith who presents on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. The Mayor of Peterborough Councillor Chris Ash was also in attendance and presented the award for Volunteer of the Year to round off the evening.

Princebuild were very pleased to be involved in the event and sponsored the Fundraising Champion category which was to recognise an individual who has shown outstanding commitment to fundraising. Both of the finalists in this category were worthy nominees, showing a great commitment to their causes, however the winner on the night was Mohammed Jangher who has raised over £11,000 by running a tuck shop and raffles at his place of work and also provided Christmas lunch and gifts for residents of Martin Court sheltered scheme last year. He was definitely a worthy winner of the category and we were really pleased to present him with the award.

The evening recognised many dedicated volunteers young and old, who have made such a difference to the lives of so many people in Peterborough. It was amazing to hear about all the fantastic work that is undertaken and Princebuild would like to extend congratulations to the winners, runners up and everyone involved in making the evening such a great success.
