Located in the heart of Bromley, The Glades shopping centre boasts 464,000 sq ft of retail space and is currently home to 135 stores.
Princebuild were awarded the Design and Build contract to convert three existing units within the busy shopping centre into one large unit ready for a new retailer.
Once the mall hoarding was in place the three units were fully stripped out back to the core shell, including a full mechanical and electrical strip out.
A major element of the project was the removal of a structurally complex concrete mezzanine. This had to be removed in stages and due to structural issues which were discovered during the removal, the demolition method needed to evolve to take this into account.

Detailed firestopping was also installed throughout and will require a re-visit to complete the installation of the fire barrier at the front once the work of the incoming tenant's fit-out team is complete.
The entire project was completed in a live shopping centre which meant that all noisy works had to be completed at night and special considerations had to be made regarding any dust or other mess created.
The final element of the project was to design and install new shop front steel bulkhead supports. Due to changes with the shop front design these required adaptations after they were installed to accommodate the incoming tenants updated design.
The project was handed over to the incoming tenant on time and ready for their own fit out.
