Project Espresso at Costa Oswestry was a comprehensive initiative focused on transforming a former livestock market brownfield site into a cutting-edge Costa Drive-Thru “Shell”. The project commenced with meticulous site investigations and the establishment of welfare facilities, paving the way for the execution of groundwork, the installation of essential services, and subsequent phases of construction. The scope encompassed foundation setting, steel erection, blockwork, roof installation, and an array of exterior enhancements, including rendering, cedar cladding, aluminium doors, windows, a serving hatch, and a roller shutter for the electrical room.
The car park aspect involved external lighting, landscaping, white lining, and the integration of shrubs and plants to enhance both aesthetics and safety. The project prioritised environmental sustainability by incorporating a gas membrane to prevent soil gas migration. To further reduce its carbon footprint, local subcontractors, bricklayers, scaffolders, hire companies, and waste removal firms were engaged, coupled with the strategic sourcing of materials and combined deliveries. The commitment to sustainability extended to the team’s choice of local accommodation, promoting a walkable approach to the site.
Over a 20-week duration, Project Espresso at Costa Oswestry not only achieved practical completion on time despite minor weather delays during the build, but also demonstrated a commitment to excellence and sustainability. The project successfully attained certifications for air tests, SBEM, and building control compliance. This whole project stands as a testament to the team’s dedication to delivering complex projects with a focus on sustainability, environmental responsibility, and overall excellence.

‘I wanted to re-iterate the discussions we had on site today that the project was handed over in great condition and is potentially one of the best quality units we have presented to the Costa team, a view that was shared by both Rob and Stuart on site – great work Mati and team.
