This project required a brand new care home to be created in the coastal resort of Bexhill-on-Sea. The home was created for Together for Mental Wellness and will provide accommodation for up to 18
residents with severe and enduring mental health problems as well as complex needs.
The development involved the conversion of two existing three storey semi-detached houses to create a new care home facility with an additional single storey extension at the rear to connect the two
properties.
The existing properties were stripped out and fully refurbished, including changes to the layout to accommodate the care homes operational needs. The property can now accommodate up to 18 residents,
including the provision of a single bedsit with its own kitchen for those able to live more independently. In addition to the sleeping accommodation the new building provides a separate kitchen for residents
wishing to prepare their own food and communal TV room in a quiet area of the house.
Along with the replacement of floors and ceilings, re-plastering and fitting all new doors and skirting, the building also required a full mechanical and electrical upgrade which was completed alongside
the building works.
Two plant rooms were fitted to the property each fitted with two unvented hot water cylinders. The newly installed radiators throughout the property are heated via one condensing boiler which is fitted
with a controller for weather-compensated and time dependent control of the heating and hot water generation.
