Retford Morrisons was built in the late 1990’s and last had a minor refurbishment in early 2000, so the store was overdue an update, not just in appearance but also in terms of technology and logistics.

Princebuild were given the task of implementing a full store refresh, applying the Morrisons ‘Fresh Look’ scheme throughout whilst maximising floor space to allow for additional product lines.

This required a full redecoration and reconfiguration, with new equipment being installed to enable the store to be more efficient, as well as allowing for additional offerings to be included within the store such as a Barista bar and party shop.

The existing tobacco kiosk had a storage area consisting of a 10m x 5m high concrete bunker wall that needed to be removed, working in a confined space with large breaking equipment was a particular challenge but was managed carefully with a safe and successful outcome.

Upgrades were made to internal systems such as the fire alarm, energy saving LED lighting was installed throughout and the refrigeration units were also upgraded to more efficient models. Both customer and staff toilets were fully refurbished, as well as the canteen and common areas.
