Project Overview:
The project’s primary objective was to replace and upgrade kitchen roofs across multiple buildings that had reached the end of their lifespan.
Scope of Work:
The project faced the challenge of delivering within a specific timeframe to ensure we didn’t interrupt day to day work. This required meticulous planning and execution to minimise downtime and disruption. The project incorporated sustainable practices, including: Enhanced thermal properties through modern insulation and underlay, reducing heat loss and increasing efficiency. Sustainable procurement by engaging local contractors and suppliers.
Summary:
The successful completion of the roof work provided a maintenance-free solution, extending the lifespan of the buildings by an additional 20 years. This not only ensured the continued functionality of the facilities. Additionally, the installation of new perimeter handrails enhanced safety by facilitating safer access for maintenance personnel. This proactive measure prevented downtime and ensured the uninterrupted operation of roof-mounted air handling units, critical for maintaining optimal conditions within the facilities.
Client Testimonial:
“We have a number of prefabricated kitchens constructed between 1992 and 1996. The roof coverings had reached the end of their life and required full replacement. The kitchens across the East region are the busiest assets we have, with Wretham and West Tofts capable of feeding 700 troops daily. Princebuild was awarded the project through a competitive tender and, due to operational requirements, had a limited timeframe in which to complete the work. The roofing contractors recovered days lost through inclement weather conditions during these works and worked a number of weekends to ensure that the buildings were handed back on time, minimizing disruption to military training. We were kept informed as to current progress by the Princebuild Project Manager and, in turn, were able to inform our client of any issues as they were uncovered, providing a swift resolution. The work was completed to a high standard, well managed and provided excellent value for money.”
This testimonial highlights the exceptional project management, commitment to deadlines, and quality of work delivered by us, ensuring operational continuity and client satisfaction. By addressing critical infrastructure needs while integrating sustainability practices, the West Tofts and Wretham Camp project exemplifies successful collaboration between stakeholders.
