Princebuild Team Visits The House Project to Talk Construction Careers

Last month, Princebuild’s Director Matthew Pudney and HR Manager Cheryl Browne visited The House Project at Chauffeurs Cottage in Peterborough to speak with a group of 12 young people about the exciting opportunities available in the construction industry.

The House Project is a pioneering national programme that helps young people leaving care to live independently. The Peterborough branch offers support, life skills, and personal development, giving these young adults the confidence and tools to thrive. The initiative provides a safe space for young people to learn, grow, and take ownership of their future.

Matthew Pudney shared his own inspiring journey with the group, detailing how he started out within Princebuild and steadily rose through the ranks to become a Director. He spoke passionately about the importance of hard work, resilience, and determination, stressing that success is within anyone’s reach if they put their mind to it.

“If you set your sights on something and stay focused, you really can achieve it,” Matthew told the group. “With the right attitude and commitment, and by always putting yourself forward, opportunities will open up.”

Cheryl Browne also took the opportunity to discuss the wide range of roles available in the construction sector, from site-based work to office support, management, design, and more. She offered practical advice on how to get started, what employers look for, and how Princebuild supports young people through apprenticeships and training.

The visit was met with enthusiasm, with the group engaging in a Q&A session and expressing real interest for some of the group in the possibilities ahead. I

We are proud to support community projects like this and remains committed to helping the next generation build brighter futures, both in and outside of construction.
