Overview
We were appointed to carry out essential perimeter security improvements at the OME storage facility within Beckingham Camp. The existing fencing had become damaged and was no longer compliant with modern security standards. Given the sensitive nature of the site and its historical use, the project demanded a meticulous and safety-focused approach from the outset.
Scope of Work
The core objective was to replace the deteriorated and non-compliant perimeter fencing with new CPNI approved enhanced security fencing, ensuring full compliance with current defence and security standards.
Key elements of the scope included:
- Careful removal and disposal of the existing damaged fencing.
- Installation of new CPNI approved enhanced perimeter fencing.
- Comprehensive ground evaluations to identify and mitigate potential hazards, including the risk of underground services and historical remains such as live ammunition.
- Rapid deployment of temporary protective fencing to manage site access and protect both personnel and the public during the works.
- Ongoing safety monitoring and supervision to maintain a secure environment throughout the project lifecycle.
Special consideration was also required due to the presence of livestock (sheep, lambs, and cows) in adjacent fields. The team liaised closely with the landowner to manage access points, ensure animal welfare, and minimise disruption to surrounding areas.
Summary
Despite the challenges presented by the site’s historic use and active farmland surroundings, the project was delivered safely, efficiently, and within the allocated timeframe. Our proactive approach to safety, through detailed ground assessments, controlled access, and close collaboration with stakeholders, ensured the secure and successful installation of the new perimeter fencing.
The outcome is a fully compliant and robust perimeter security system that now safeguards the OME facility in line with CPNI standards, demonstrating Princebuild’s ongoing commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.
